We are now looking for an automation engineer who wants to contribute to this important development journey.

About the role – Automation Engineer (PLC/Robotics)

As an Automation Engineer, you will work with automation, PLC, and digitalization in Hultafors' own factories and with external production teams. You will work both practically and strategically, taking ideas from concept to finished solution and helping to develop the production environments of the future.

Your main responsibilities

• Work with automation and PLC programming centrally at Hultafors and with our production units
• Ensure that automation equipment complies with legal requirements, internal standards, and safety requirements
• Drive development within Industry 4.0 and digitalization
• Lead or participate in machine construction, quality, efficiency, and environmental and safety projects
• Develop concepts, cost estimates, and decision-making materials
• Work with troubleshooting, disturbances, and improvements in production
• Drive activities that increase safety, quality, delivery precision, and efficiency
• Collaborate closely with project managers, designers, production, and external machine builders
• Participate in forums for automation and production development
• You report to Patrik Tholinsson, R&D & Engineering Manager, and work closely with the production engineering team

Qualifications

Relevant education in automation, mechatronics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or similar — at university, college, or vocational level. Equivalent knowledge through work experience or specialized courses is also meritorious.

Experience

Approximately 5 years in:

• Automation, PLC programming, robotics, or production technology
• Industrial production, machine construction, automation solutions, or industrial IT
• B&R, Schneider-Electric, or similar control systems
• Driving ideas from concept to implementation

Technical skills

• PLC programming (e.g., B&R, Schneider-Electric)
• Automation development and production improvements
• Troubleshooting and handling production disturbances
• Machine projects: operation, startup, and optimization
• Conceptualization of automation solutions
• Mechanical and production technical understanding
• Reading drawings and system diagrams
• CAD understanding (open models, navigate and suggest improvements)
• Machine safety, CE, and risk assessment

IT & systems

• Industrial IT and networks
• MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint)
• OneDrive, Teams
• Management systems: Omnia, SharePoint
• SolidWorks (meritorious)

Languages & others

• Swedish and English, spoken and written
• Driving license B required (Pool car available for visits to suppliers and partners.)

Travel

• No travel required in everyday work
• Some travel may occur, for example, to
• Romania (about 4–6 times a year)
